This week Room 5 has been over run by pirates and all of our learning has been based around pirates. As part of the theme we have been reading the big book Crew Stew. The book sees the crew of a pirate ship all add an ingredient to the cooks pot as he makes crew stew. As each ingredient is added the cook sings "Cook it long, cook it slow, cook it till they'll never know whats in it". Of course the cook gets to add the secret ingredient which happens to be a salty pirate sock. Yuck! So today we made crew stew, each member of the class brought something to put in the pot. There were onions, carrots, potatoes, kumara, leek, celery and noodles. We cooked the soup on our ship and ate it for lunch, everyone tried it and some even had seconds. I am pleased to say there was not a sock in sight.
Our Gallery Seven is a blog site for exhibiting the learning experiences of children in Gallery 7, a year 2 class at Rolleston School. The name Gallery seven has been applied to our room this year as it is a place where we as learners exhibit our experiences and learning journey. We hope you enjoy viewing our masterpieces and would love to read any comments you have to share. Please note that all comments are moderated before being exhibited on this site.
